Krista Adams, the founder of PMCI, is passionate about all things nature. She is, however, especially fond of Purple Martins and other native birds. Krista spent her childhood years enjoying the outdoors at her grandparent’s camp in Grand Isle, LA. She has wonderful memories of spending time with Frank Boimare, Jr., her grandfather, watching the Purple Martins fly around the wooden Martin house he built. Krista hopes that her conservation efforts will not only help the birds, but also encourages families to enjoy the outdoors. She is a certified master naturalist and joined the Baton Rouge chapter’s board of directors in 2020. She is a member of several birding organizations including the Purple Martin Conservation Association, Louisiana Ornithological Society and the Baton Rouge Audubon Society.
Krista enjoys meeting new people and teaching them about Purple Martins. She spends each Spring mentoring others to be responsible Purple Martin landlords. She routinely speaks at events and participates in outreach activities. If you are interested in having Krista speak to your group or to discuss a possible project, please contact us for information.
Krista Adams, Michael Adams, and Amy Boimare
all have one thing in common, they love Purple Martins!
Mike and Amy are instrumental in the success of PMCI. Mike handles the installations and maintenance of all our conservation sites. Amy helps enhance our educational programs and social media sites. She manages the PMCI website which is always a work in progress because PMCI is rapidly growing with multiple Purple Martin colonies and educational activities for people of all ages. Their hard work is appreciated!
PMCI focuses on education of individuals of all ages about one of the country's most beloved song birds, the Purple Martin. We conduct educational activities at schools and community settings and manage Purple Martin colonies at community parks and schools as part of our educational and conservation work to help Purple Martins thrive.
PMCI has active Purple Martin Colonies at schools and public venues throughout S.E. Louisiana. We participate in various nature events and present information regarding Purple Martins and our experiences in working with these popular songbirds.
Purple Martin Conservation Initiative (EIN# 86-3251426) is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Therefore your gift is tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law.
